SF’s Love Affair With Food Trucks & Rock Wall’s “Food Truck Frenzies!”

San Francisco is arguably one of the culinary capitals of the U.S., some of the finest restaurants and chefs call the City By The Bay home. So who would expect something so basic {and fast} to become so popular in our city, let alone become more than just a fad?

Food trucks {and similar variations} have been revamped, and now include everything from a pizza oven on wheels {Pizza Politana} to the on-trend cupcakes {Cupkates} a cream puff truck {Pacific Puffs} and lets not forget the SF favorite {and our own little taste of heaven}, The Creme Brulee Cart.

Pro Media client Rock Wall Wine Company  has thrown a series of events around food trucks called ‘Food Truck Frenzies’, with each ‘frenzy’ circling around a different theme. Their upcoming frenzy, ‘Food Truck Frenzy 6: The Return of Neptune Beach!’, taking place Saturday June 9th, features Bay Area food trucks including Arki Truck, Le Truc, Nom Nom, Chairman Bao, Fist of Flour, Little Green Cyclo, Tandori Chicken Mobile USA, Suzie Q’s Lunchbox, Nick’s Wheely Good Breakfast Koja Chicken and Sweet Treat Stop.  {For more info on Rock Wall Wine Company’s upcoming frenzy or to buy tickets, head HERE.}  Each Food Truck Frenzy continues to grow, with more people and more trucks participating each time. As you can see, there is no shortage to the “frenzy” that is food trucks in our city!

With a range of options able to satisfy any SF foodie’s appetite, paired with the unique branding that is the truck {or cart} itself, we can see why these are such hot items. There are even websites dedicated to tracking their locations so you can get just what you want, when you want it {check out Off The Grid and Roaming Hunger}.

However, with their continued growth and popularity, food trucks have come up against schools and other restaurants when it comes to their proximity. It seems they are taking a bite out of the restaurant business and pose a threat to school lunches. On the other hand, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has referred to this food-nouveau of sorts as “a model for small business innovation“.

So while the country weighs out the pros and cons of food trucks, we’re going to go grab a bite from one of them {if only for the fact that they’re tasty and fun!} Happy trucking!
